Megan Guildstone
Background
Born twenty-two years ago, while the remote, rim planet of
Agamar was still in it's period of civil uprising and successfully
turning most of the residents of the planet against the evil
ways of the Galactic Empire, Megan Guildstone has lived
though quite a bit of turmoil in her life, but remained strong
and focused, persistant to one day acheive the peacefull life
she always wanted.
Megan's father, Markus, was a private freighter pilot that worked
within the Mirgoshir system, flying his YT-1300. While he didn't
lead the most prosperous life, he made enough to equal his luxary
expenses and still have enough left over for maintanence costs. He
enjoyed the style of life that he chose for himself, not having to
settle down to one place for very long, but allowing himself to
always keep the option open, just in case. Little did he know that
eight years into his career, at the age of 28, that would all change.
Formerly Lyllian Kimler of Alderaan, Megan's mother had studied
at the finest diplomatic schools that Aldera had to offer. At the age
of twenty-four she became a senator for the Old Republic and remained
in that position even after Palpatine declared himself Emporer. That
is, until she heard of the forming Rebellion, at the age of 30.
Resigning from her seat on the Imperial Senate, she joined Mon
Mothma, Bail Organa, and Garm Bel Iblis' quest to show the galaxy the
chaos that the Empire was creating. She left Alderaan to go to Agamar
and be one of the first people to help incite the uprising that was
already traveling around the city in whispers. There she met Markus
Guildstone and fell in love. With the cities around her not totally
convinced, and the development relationship with the man which she had
just met, she stayed there and talked with not only the planetary
representatives, but the people, the population as well. At the age of
32, and Markus at the age of 30, they were wed, and presented a year
later with a daughter of their own.
Lyllian taught Megan more and more diplomacy as she grew older and
raised her with the upmost respect and courtesy for all species,
reguardless of race or gender. She was taught that everyone deserved
the same amount of kindess until they have individually proven
themselves unworthy. Markus taught her the more basic things of life.
He didn't know, much less feel the need to teach her how to understand
body language or how to hold a glass right, but he did know how to fly
and barter, so he taught her the only skills that he felt he was best
at, and she soon became a very experianced pilot, showing remarkable
abilities even in her early teens.
At the age of seventeen, Megan's family was given the word that
Alderaan was just destroyed by the Empire. After several cover stories
that were disproved by snoopy investigative reporters and the aid of
the growing Rebel Alliance, the final version, that the planet was
vanquished to prevent one man from creating a deadly bioweapon, Bail
Organa of the Royal House of Organa no less, was released. The
persistance that Lyllian had kept had finally paid off as Agamar
openly rebelled against the Empire, though within that same year, the
planet was silenced.
Word had gotten back to the Imperials of the traitors on Agamar, and
an assault craft was launched to carry out the pentalty for such
actions. The small town of Tondatha was leveled to the ground, as well
as much of the area surrounding the city, including Markus and Lyllian
who were in the town on business. Megan was on her way back from a
trading run when she noticed the Imperial warship streak into
hyperspace, away from the planet. Fear struck deep into her heart as
she descended into the atmosphere and started heading towards Calna
Muun, the blazing fire that once was Tondatha flickering dimly on the
planet's surface. She knew what had happened, and she blamed herself
for not being there to help stop it. She landed in Calna Muun's main
spaceport and immediately went searching futily for her parents, but
after days of almost constant looking and waiting, they never came
back.
Megan was torn between emotions, whether to join the Agamar
Resistance and risk causing more lives to be lost, or mearly to go
out on her own as a rogue and try to get through life the best way
that she could, hoping that one day she could make peace with both
herself and the government. Neither would be done for a very long time.
She it was at the age of twenty that she was finally able to join the
newly risen New Republic. She had decided with the years she spent in
the cockpit of her YT-1300, it was time to put her experiance to good
use. The text evaluations were fairly simple for her, but the actual
flight exercises with instructors were somewhat less desirable. She had
developed her own style of flying during her time spent alone in the
cockpit, and wasn't about to budge from it. She had to deal with
anything from pirates to Imperials in space combat, flying only a
freighter, and in her opinion she handled herself quite well. Of
course, the flight instructors aboard Home One didn't fully agree with
her reasoning, and found some of her moves to be both unsafe and very
much contradicting their definition of team work. However, they did
have to give her credit for finishing the exercises completely and some
in the top ten highest recorded times that they had seen.
Reguardless of her qualifications in the cockpit, her ability to
conform to standards and protocol left her another six months into the
training program before she was graduated to Flight Officer. This left
dread in her mind, that if the entire NR StarOps thought the same way,
she might never earn any respect, however various combat situations
that she was thrust into proved otherwise. Reguardless of her craft,
whether it was the A-Wing she was first assigned to, or the X-Wing that
she was moved to, she always had one of the highest kill rates in the
squadron that she was assigned to. This, combined with her ever-growing
ability to conform to protocol, earned her the rank of Lieutenant and
the position of Executive Officer within another year.
